About the island

Gili Trawangan is the largest and the most popular of a group of three small islands off the northwest coast of Lombok. Though only three by two kilometres in size there are plenty of quiet white sandy beaches to relax and soak up the sun.

The crystal clear turquoise waters are perfect for diving and snorkelling, explore the nearby reefs where an abundance of colourful fish and a large variety of corals can be viewed. Gili Trawangan is also home to many turtles and houses a turtle sanctuary which is dedicated to the conservation of the species.

Get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and relax in an environment at one with nature. No motorised transportation is on the island so you can walk, ride a bike or ride in a horse drawn cart called a Cidomo to any of the many secluded beaches round the island. Gili Trawangan has many good restaurants and in the evening there is a lively night life in Sentral. For a more relaxed evening the west coast has the most spectacular sunsets over Mt Agung on Bali along with various restaurants and bars where a cocktail can be enjoyed with a variety of delicious food.

The island moves at a very relaxed pace, days can be spent exploring the island by bike, lazing on a deserted beach and snorkelling in the lovely clear water, finishing off with a cocktail at sunset.
